Clown craze resulting in criminal convictions

For possibly the first time in history it isn’t just women who are scared to walk down the street at night.

Men have now joined the club because of a new craze called ‘clown purge’.

People are deliberately dressing up as creepy clowns with the intention of terrifying others…just for fun.

But what started as a joke in America has now spread to Australia, and police are warning that these actions may result in criminal convictions.

One woman is even claiming to have given birth prematurely following a clown scare.

The worst part is that police resources are being wasted on incidents that shouldn’t have occurred in the first place.

If police do catch the perpetrators, charges and jail time are a possibility.

Some charges facing clown impersonators who intend to frighten:

  • Public nuisance
  • Unlawful possession of a weapon
  • Assault
